Training For Teams
This page includes resources to support teams interested in using positive supports. Teams are all different based on the unique organizations interested in putting new positive support practices in place. Some organizations are large with many different types of services offered while other organizations provide services to only one or two children or adults. The size of each team varies based on the decisions made in each organization. Examples of team members include administrators, staff, people with lived experience, family members and caregivers, and community members.
The resources on this page can be used by teams who want to get started improving practices as well as for those that have been implementing for years. Although organization-wide teams often implement positive supports on their own, it can be helpful to find a trainer to guide progress and provide training expertise needed to master each of the positive supports that are considered priorities for the organization.
Getting Started
This page can help you if you are interested in using an organization-wide strategy to implement positive supports or your team has been implementing for awhile. Some quick resources for getting started include the Home and Community Based Services Module (HCBS). Here are some additional free resources:
- Introductory Slides on Organization-wide Positive Supports (this presentation summarizes the major elements of team-based assessment and action planning),
- 3-Session Training for Teams on Organization-wide Positive Supports
- Free Resources for Implementation

HCBS Modules
The modules in this section were created for teams that want to get started implementing positive supports. Each module can be used by teams in a variety of ways. For example, a team could: a) ask members to read the module from beginning to the end, b) pick a module to review during a team meeting, or c) use individual pages during team or staff meetings. Teams wanting to dig deeper into the various positive supports can visit the Training Materials Page for more information.
