SciLine did a media briefing on youth gender identity and transitioning. The briefing covered: what is known about how gender identity develops, including the role of external factors such as family, school, and community environments; what is involved in the process of medial transition, including the use of puberty blockers and hormone treatments; and research findings on how the outward, social transition to a different gender and the age at which that transition occurs, can impact a person’s mental health. Included with the link is a video, transcript, three expert panelist pictures and biographies, and slide presentations that accompany the briefing.
