October 11th is National Coming Out Day, a holiday founded to raise awareness of the LGBTQ+ community and its civil rights movement. National Coming Out Day was established by psychologist Richard Eichberg and gay rights activist Jean O’Leary in 1988 and has grown in popularity since.
