The city of Minneapolis launched a pilot project to provide an alternative to police response on 911 calls for mental health emergencies. The Behavioral Crisis Response Teams (BCR) aim to provide crisis intervention and counseling to respond to mental health crisis calls.

Currently, mobile units will operate throughout Minneapolis from 7:30 a.m. to midnight on weekdays with the hopes of eventually having services run at all times.
