The U.S. Department of Agriculture is awarding the Minnesota Department of Agriculture (MDA) $500,000 to advance work in farm stress and rural mental health in Minnesota. The Minnesota Department of Agriculture’s “Bend, Don’t Break” initiative recognizes that increased access to mental health resources is necessary to help farmers and rural Minnesotans with stress, anxiety, and crisis situations, such as the drought. It will support services like mental health counseling, farm advocates, marriage retreats, and a 24/7 Farm & Rural Helpline.
